he conference is organised by the coalition of Croatian civil society organizations (Centre for Peace Studies, Gong, Human Rights House Zagreb, Institute for Political Ecology, Zelena akcija - Friends of the Earth Croatia, Roda - Parents in Action, Croatian Union of Associations for Autism, Clubture Network and the Croatian Youth Network) with an aim to gather representatives of civil society, institutions, academia and other actors working on combating shrinking civic space and to discuss recent policy and other developments, trends and perspectives on creating enabling space for civil society. 

 

In the first panel of the conference, we will deal with the manifestations of shrinking civic space in different EU member space, while the second will put the focus on SLAPPs as a tool against civil society organizations and activists. In the two panels of the second day of the conference, we will deal with institutional and civil society responses against shrinking civic space and initiatives aiming at creating an enabling environment for civil society. The official language of the conference will be English, and we will secure translation in Croatian.
