Story of global education (online traning); DrONe – Udruga za društveni razvoj i neformalno obrazovanje

As global education has not reached it's potential in Croatia – we decided to take action and first steps towards it. Within this project we will develop and implement basic online training for newcomers in global education. Our aim is to introduce the concept and importance of global education to training participants, to present examples of good practice in Croatia, to present the methodology of global education and to organize an online meeting with experts in this topic. The training itself will last for 4 days and it will be self-paced (participants will organize their own learning time and manage tasks according to their pace). It will be implemented via user-friendly Thinkific online learning platform, with detailed instructions given on how to use the platform. We expect 8-10 participants on this training and each participant will have its „mentor“ in tasks to complete.

In the follow-up phase of the project participants will work in small teams on designing and implementing their own online campaign on the topic of global education.

Take Action!; Association Delta and the City of Rijeka

Take action! aims to strengthen youth work and empower young people aged 15 to 19 for active citizenship City of Rijeka, Croatia. It enhances cooperation and dialogue between young people, local authorities and other relevant stakeholders in creating a vibrant, inclusive and active community. High school youth develop project proposals that aim to solve some of the consequences youth experiences linked to the COVID-19 pandemic, and in the week before 2 best project proposals are picked by all the participants. On 19th November 2 groups of youth will meet in an online debate where they will present arguments for choosing their project proposal for funding. A jury consisting of local authorities, Youth council of City of Rijeka and other interested experts will have a chance to ask questions and clarifications from both parties, and then choose a winner. The winning group will then hold their first meeting and start with project implementation on 20th November.

We will contact NGO for senior citizens for Zagreb county, and receive information about their members who are in great disadvantage (live alone, immobile, low income) and create gifts for them – messages of our juniors and some useful items for the household. We will deliver them directly to their homes, being careful about social distancing. We will document the encounters with photo and make a video, promoting civic responsibility of our juniors to the elderly in the local community.

Info As part of Croatian language classes, and in accordance with the national curriculum for the subject, a project activity on advertising and media literacy will be held. After getting acquainted with the work of the Center for the Culture of Dialogue and their project My Place Under the Sun, students will record videos promoting the association's campaign to improve the living conditions of poor children and actively influence the visibility of social inequality in society and its consequences for children.

After filming the videos, the best will be chosen to be used in the public media space (social networks) to promote the goals of the campaign and raise the necessary funds.

Short info: Build European Solidarity Today is an Erasmus+ global education project happening in parallel in schools in 6 countries - Croatia, Slovenia, Poland, Spain, Italy and France coordinated by the Centre for Peace Studies. In school year 2020/2021, approx. 21000 students will be involved in activities focusing on climate change, racism, intergenerational solidarity, women's rights, migration and mental health of youth with approx. 900 teachers trained.
