Global Education Week 2022 begins - ‘It’s our World, let’s take action’!
The peak of this year's edition of Global Education Week takes place from November 14th to 20th but with the tendency to keep organizing GE activities throughout the year. Global Education Week is an annual worldwide initiative to raise awareness on the importance of developing the global competence of young people, as well as other citizens, and this year it is being held under the same motto as last year - ‘It’s our World, let’s take action!".
The week is an opportunity for different actors (non-governmental organizations, teachers, trainers, governments and individuals) to organize activity(ies) that contribute to a more sustainable and just world with different groups. The week is internationally coordinated by the North-South Center of the Council of Europe, and you can see more information here.
It is not enough for education to produce individuals who can read, write and count.
Education must fully assume its central role in helping people to forge more just, peaceful,
tolerant and inclusive societies.
Global Citizenship and Multimedia - Guidelines for teachers and educators
Global education enables us - as global citizens and students - to understand world issues and provides us with knowledge, skills, values and attitudes necessary to face global challenges and solve them. Among other things, it introduces components of culture, art and ethics into educational systems that are too often subordinated to the demands of the national or international labor market.
This is on the track with Target 4.7 of Agenda 2030 through which numerous countries, including Croatia, committed themselves to ensure that by 2030 ensure all learners acquire knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development, including among others through education for sustainable development and sustainable lifestyles, human rights, gender equality, promotion of a culture of peace and non-violence, global citizenship, and appreciation of cultural diversity and of culture’s contribution to sustainable development

The association is a national contact point, where schools and kindergartens can order the planting material they need for their yards, the association collects funds to cover the costs of the seedlings, and in addition educates the institutions. After that, planting material is delivered to schools and kindergartens so that they join the national planting campaign. Three years ago, 200,000 seedlings were planted with 75,000 participants. The beginning of an intensive online campaign ‘Visions of solidarity’ from the perspective of Build European Solidarity Today project participants shared with us through a series of short video statements. The campaign leads up to the international conference on global citizenship education, which will be held on November 30th 2022 in Brussels. It will be possible to follow the conference online. |
