The North-South Centre (NSC) of the Council of Europe (CoE), in partnership with the Education policy division of the CoE, CONCORD Europe, UNESCO, and in affiliation with Global Education Network Europe (GENE), organised the 3rd European Congress on Global Education under the title Education for a Global Citizenship: Unity in Diversity. The Congress took place in Zagreb, Croatia, 26-28 November 2015 under the auspices of the Croatian Center for Peace Studies as NSC implementing partner.

With the sounds of the ship's horn as a sign of condolence to the victims'  families and solidarity with all those who flee in search of a safe home, on the the International Day of Migrants, "Welcome!" Initiative warned that the time is ripe for a unified response from Europe aimed at increasing humanity and openness for all that search for safety.  

Croatia’s GI ranking in Band C places it in the moderate risk category for corruption in the defence and security sector. The highest risk area is Operations, which fell in Band E (very high risk of corruption).

Two activists of the “Welcome” civic initiative were taken into custody for a “talk” after drawing a graffiti saying: “Open the borders for all”, on the roof of “Medika” building in Zagreb. 

The decision to tighten refugee entry criteria, allowing only the transit of persons from Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq, and stopping those who do not come from war-affected countries, is a serious blow to the rule of law and brings people who come in search of a safe haven into an insecure position, activists of the "Welcome" Refugee Support Initiative said on Friday.

Migrations caused by war, poverty, violence and other injustices have become part of our everyday lives. For years now, the European Union’s response to this migration phenomena has been to shut down its borders in order to reestablish Fortress Europe.

During 8th Solidarity march, Antifascist Network of Zagreb and "Welcome!" Initiative - together with 700 citizens - have asked EU governments and institutions to show humanity and solidarity with migrants.

This Shadow Position was prepared by experts on asylum issues, human rights and peace-building policies of the „Welcome“ Initiative, coordinated by the Centre for Peace Studies. The Position refers to the upcoming „Conference on Migrations“, which is to be held on November 11 and 12 in Malta.

On the eve of the International Day against Fascism and Antisemitism (in the memory of the Crystal Night 1938) Croatian youth network (MMH) and Centre for Peace Studies (CMS) have organised a number of activities with their partner organizations from other cities.
