The SURE – Strategies for Using Rights and Achieving Equality project includes implementing specialised training programmes in Croatia, aimed at strengthening the capacities of legal professionals and other practitioners in strategic litigation and the effective use of EU law and the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights.

The trainings are designed to deepen participants’ understanding of specific areas of EU law, with a focus on their practical application in protecting fundamental rights, strengthening democracy and the rule of law, and contributing to changes in national legislation and broader social developments.

Within the project, a set of curricula was developed and used as the basis for training sessions covering the following topics:

  • Introduction to EU law: understanding and applying EU law in the protection of human rights
  • EU anti-discrimination law
  • EU environmental law
  • EU law in the field of migration and asylum
  • Protecting civil society action through EU law
  • Freedom of expression under EU law: hate speech and SLAPP
