PUBLIC PANEL: Europe and Migration: Where do we draw the (border) line?

Centre for Peace Studies invites you to join us on Monday, May 20th, 2019 at 10:00am at HUB365, Petračićeva 6, in Zagreb, for the public panel: „Europe and Migration: Where do we draw the (border) line?“ where local and international experts will present and discuss the current migration situation, as well as the expectations that decision-makers at the local and European Union levels bring to an end the current human rights abuses, prevent the occurence of future abuses, and respect the rule of law. 

Candidates for the upcoming European parliamentary elections have been invited to the panel.

Civil Society and New Phenomena of Refugee Migration

The aim of the conference is to open a discussion on the role civil society has in shaping national and EU policy on protection and supporting refugees, influence on public discourse and decision-makers. Also, speakers will discuss possible strategies in overcoming divisions between "new" and "old" EU members over the Common Asylum System and what kind of future and political decisions can be expected with regard to the European system of international protection.

[MIGRENT] publication promotion

On Tuesday, October 3, at 18h in Booksa, the [MIGRENT] publication will be promoted. At the promotion, Bashkim Fazliu (Taste of Home) and Prince Wale Soniyiki (Association of Africans in Croatia, African Cuisine) will present the examples of migrant entrepreneurship and migrant social entrepreneurship in Croatia, while Tina Lee Odinsky-Zec (Zagreb School of Economics and Management) and Hermes Arriaga Sierra (Impact Hub Zagreb) will talk about opportunities and challenges for migrant (social) entrepreneurs in Croatia. Sara Kekuš from the Centre for Peace Studies will moderate the conversation. After the conversation and Q&A session, we will continue networking and socializing with the Taste of Home catering.
